Resolutions and 1 amazing offer

Question: What is the number one New Years resolution?

“I resolve this year to finally get in shape.”

If only it were that simple.

Let’s unpack one facet of that resolution. Losing weight. That means you’ve got to figure out:

  • What not to eat

  • What to eat

  • Where to shop

  • How to cook it

  • How much time it takes to cook (and clean, right Honey?)

  • What exercises to do

  • When to exercise

  • How long to exercise

  • How hard to exercise

And deep breath. A seemingly simple goal now buried in complication.

Let me be honest with you. A lot of training clients hire us so they can turn off their brain and get a safe, effective workout that moves the needle towards those goals.

Our colleague Tara Mazanec has gone 1 step further. She has developed an amazing 12 week program (starting 1/13) that guides you every step of the way. Her 12 week F.I.T. Formula combines exercise, nutrition, yoga, mindfulness, community and Tara’s unique expertise (and Personality) into one amazing package. You can sign up as an online participant or for one of the 10 in person spots.

This is Tara. She’s kind of a big deal.

Again that’s the Fit Formula.

F = Firm Up Your Foundation

I = Increase your Knowing

T = Take It From Here

“Become your own health "command" officer in 12 weeks. Yup. 12 weeks to ACTIONABLE change. Work is work, but the tools are simple. This is a program designed to increase the efficiency of how you nourish, move, and age. We all want to age with fewer injuries, build strength, feel confident, and be healthy. This course will give you the confidence and tools needed to change behaviors that aren't serving you and offer strategies to move and feel better in your body.”

Personally- I only have 15 resolutions:

  1. Cook every day.

  2. Check the weather every day.

  3. Do a chin-up every time I pass a chin-up bar (that’s gonna be a lot of chin ups).

  4. Run (at least) a mile a day.

  5. 5 minutes of daily foam rolling.

  6. Eat fruit every morning.

  7. Cut out processed sugar.

  8. Lift 3 x’s a week.

  9. 5 x :30 minute yoga sessions a week.

  10. Clean daily (Happy wife=Happy Life)

  11. 10 minutes of breath work before bed.

  12. 10 minute daily meditation.

  13. Track my heart rate/results more often.

  14. Maintain my calendar more fastidiously (SAT word).

  15. Turn these weekly vlogs into a short/sweet weekly YouTube vlog.

The over-arching theme here is the minimal effective dose. I’m a habitual over-trainer, and according to the book I’m reading (Beyond Training) I may find greater success by doing less volume. So more on all this next week in a special year end super blog where I’ll go into why I chose each goal.

Happy Holidays!
