Cliches to the rescue
Sunday is the start of the new year.
I had grand plans to check off over a dozen New Years resolutions in detail. Some were grandiose (cook something every day, cut out processed sugar); most were straight up mundane (check the weather every day).
I dumped that idea for a pair of cliches. Want to hear ‘em?
1-‘We overestimate what we can do in a day, underestimate what we can do in a week; a month; a year'.’
2- ‘The most powerful phrase in language: what if…’
I’ve accomplished the physical goals. For a while.
I’ve eaten clean. For a month or two.
What if I could be more consistent?
What if I kept the goals for six months, or (gulp) an entire year?
Am I underestimating how amazing would that feel?
Are you?
Who could we be this time next year?
We already know what life will look like, feel like if we stay the course.
How much better could life be?
Let’s find out.
I resolve to be consistent. That means:
I’m writing my goals down at least 2 x’s a week (+40% more likely to achieve a written goal).
I’m making this as fun as I can (why stick with anything boring?).
I’m aiming to be good to great. Not perfect. Perfect gets in the way of good to great.
Are you with me?
