Meet the Owner of TRAIN, Boston’s best boutique Fitness & Yoga Studio!
Alan’s Story
Alan Goldsmith started his fitness career on a whim. With his Bachelor’s degree in English from UMass-Amherst, Alan wanted to start writing a blog, but didn’t know what he wanted to write about. Alan’s husband, Matt, said “Well, you never shut-up about working out, maybe you should write about that.” After Alan’s response of “Wow! Hateful.”, he realized that Matt was right.
Through writing a few blogs, Alan started receiving information on how to become a Personal Trainer. Assuming that this would, at bare minimum, help him with his own workouts, Alan signed up for National Academy of Sports Medicine’s (NASM) Personal Trainer Certification and hasn’t looked back.
About a year after getting his Personal Training Certification, Alan had the opportunity to own Sadare Body Therapy on Clarendon Street in Boston’s South End. Saldare had it all, personal trainers, massage therapists, physical therapists, and, for a time, a medical doctor. However, with COVID, Alan had to close Saldare in 2021.
Luckily, Alan saw the writing on the wall, and started looking at other possible locations to continue to train his own clients as well as have a space for other trainers to come and train their clients. Most of the trainers from Saldare, as well as others he met along the way, came with Alan.
The studio was originally called TRAIN: Personal Training & Yoga Studio since Alan had the mix of being both a personal trainer and a yoga instructor. However, the studio was getting more traction with the 1-on-1 personal training. So Alan decided to focus on that, change the name of the studio to TRAIN Fitness Studio and have it become the best elite personal training studio in the South End.
